The Ten Commandments are the ONLY part of the Bible that GOD, or YAHWEH Himself, wrote with His own finger. The rest of Scripture was written by GOD's people - His prophets and disciples - as the HOLY SPIRIT communicated with them. The Ten Commandments, however, were of such importance that our heavenly Father wrote them Himself in stone. This was to indicate to humankind they were permanent.

The reason for their great importance is, they are a transcript of our heavenly Father's character. In other words they reveal to us what He is like. In this way we can see a real reflection of the Father Himself.

"You shall have no other gods besides Me." is His first commandment. ~Exodus 20:3

The second is: "You shall not make for yourself any idols ...You shall not bow down to them or worship them..." ~Exodus 20:4-6.

The third is: "You shall not use the name of the LORD your GOD as a curse." ~Exodus 20:7.

The fourth is: "Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy." ~Exodus 20:8-11.

The fifth is: "Honor, or obey, your father and mother." ~Exodus 20:12.

The sixth is: "You shall not kill." ~Exodus 20:13.

The seventh is: "You shall not cheat on your spouse." ~Exodus 20:14.

The eighth is: "You shall not steal." ~Exodus 20:15

The ninth is: "You shall not tell lies about anyone." ~Exodua 20:16.

The tenth is: "You shall not covet what belongs to someone else." ~Exodus 20:17.
